Based on actual people and events, The Gaba Girl follows the social career of a wax mannequin which briefly became a celebrity and fashion icon in the 1930s, and the tangled three-way – and four-way – romantic relationships of those closest to the phenomenon: the mannequin’s creator, Lester Gaba, Broadway director and future film director Vincent Minnelli, and Cynthia Wells, the mysterious socialite who was the model for the mannequin.
